You may not be a pro when it comes to steaks, but, of course, you want it to turn out perfectly every time! Even if you’re a beginner, I have some tips and tricks here to give you a gorgeous result, even if you’re looking for a different temperature inside the steak.
Rest: Let the steaks rest for 5 minutes before serving. Continue this step for a minute or two, then remove the steaks from the skillet. Use a tablespoon to scoop the butter and baste it over the steaks. Baste: Carefully tilt the pan to let the butter pool to the side. Let the steaks cook for another 2 minutes, then drizzle some more browned butter over the steaks. Let them sear for 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip. Sear Steak: Add a couple tbsp of the browned butter to a skillet over medium-high heat, I used a grill skillet, but a regular skillet works as well. Continue stirring for another 3 to 5 minutes, or until the butter turns golden brown. Once the butter has melted, you’ll notice it starts to sizzle. Make brown butter: Add the butter, salt, pepper, herbs to a saucepan over medium heat. Season it generously with salt and pepper. Prep: Let the steak sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes before cooking. This will guarantee a perfect and consistent pink color throughout the steak. My best tip for making a perfect pan seared steak is to let it come to room temperature for 20-30 minutes before cooking. Keep in mind if you use a different type of steak or your steak is a different thickness, the cooking time may vary. These include times I used to cook 1″ thick ribeye steaks to medium-rare doneness. We found these gorgeous wagyu ribeyes so, of course, I had to buy them and try that tender meat out for myself!
